Welcome to WUA: Sabine Verheyen

Sabine Verheyen joined our team at WUA as a Digital Researcher in April. Her area of expertise is Usability Research. In this interview, she talks about what she likes most about working at WUA, her life motto, and the things that you can wake her up for at night…

Welcome, Sabine! Tell us, how did you end up at WUA?

“Before joining WUA, I worked in Telegraaf Media Group’s Usability Lab (TMG), but the job just didn’t suit me anymore. So, I started looking for something else. I wanted to take a next step in Usability Research, preferably with a newer, somewhat younger company. I saw the vacancy at WUA and heard exiting stories from friends who had been respondents in WUA’s studies. Because of their stories, WUA’s website and the vacancy, my first impression of the company was very positive, so I decided to apply. I got invited for an interview and it immediately felt very good. Then everything happened really fast! A second interview soon followed, confirming our mutual click, and before I knew it I had signed my contract.”

You have now worked here for a month. What do you like most about working at WUA?

“Everything, actually! Everything I expected came true and you could even say my expectations have been exceeded. I think it only gets better every day. One of the main reasons why I enjoy working here so much is our team. I really admire how much time, energy and love is given to everyone who works at WUA. And that pays for itself. You notice that in everything. Everyone here is fully committed and enjoys their work, and the team spirit.”

What’s your life motto ?

“Haha, oh dear, that’s a difficult question. I don’t really have a motto, but what I find out more and more is that you shouldn’t take life too seriously. What I mean by that, is that you have to enjoy life and not make things too difficult for yourself. Just try to relax and don’t be too hard on yourself. Uhm… So, I guess my life motto is something like: You’re in control of how hard or fun your life can be, so make the best of it!”

How would your friends describe you?

“As a bon vivant. I’m someone who can really enjoy being with friends and appreciate the little things in life. I want to, and can, enjoy every single thing this wonderful city and life have to offer. Besides that, I am a bit of a softie, haha. Sometimes I can empathize so deeply with other people, even with people I don’t know personally, that I can get emotional about it.”

If  we wake  you  up in  the  middle  of  the  night,  what  should  we  bring?

“Well, I’d rather have you didn’t wake me up at all, hahaha! I need a lot of sleep. If I sleep less than 9 hours, I’m simply not myself. ”

What three things would you bring to a deserted island?

“My phone. I would not survive without any contact with my friends and family. A jar of peanut butter, my guilty pleasure. And my boyfriend, to keep me company!”
